Should You Purchase a Used Car that Is More than 6 Years Old?

A lot of people who are looking to purchase used Volkswagen Vento in Bangalore will come across cars of different age. Ideally with age the valuation of the car reduces. So a car that is 3 years old will fetch a better price than a car which is 5 years old.

However the valuation of the car does not entire depend on its year of manufacturing. It also depends on the condition of the car and other factors. So should you purchase a used Vento car that is 6 years old?

Odometer Count

A 6 year old car is expected to have quite a big number on the odometer. But if the car has managed hardly 50,000 kilometres on the odometer then you can consider the car. The engine of the car has not been used to its full capacity and can still be in very good running condition. A minor service can get it roaring up for you. However, do ensure that the odometer has not been tampered with and you are not falling prey to odometer fraud.

Storage Matters

Check where the car has been stored by the dealer and for how long. If the car has been stored in a dusty or moist place for more than 6 months then the car’s body would have started picking up rust and perforation. The car’s electrical wiring would also have been damaged by rodents in the storage area. This will increase your maintenance cost for the car. But if you feel that the car was stored very nicely by the dealer or the seller had kept it at his own place instead of handing it over to the dealer then you can get it inspected from your mechanic and think about a purchase.
